Yes, I’m getting older. I admit it. I suppose that it might even show so much that people are asking me to review hair color for men. Here is where I could write a few paragraphs about how aging is hard and try to feign some sort of denial but you don’t want to read all of that. I’m just going to level with you right now and say straight out that I’ve got gray hair on my head and in my beard. When Simpler reached out to me I was initially hesitant to color my hair. Plus I didn’t have a beard. Application Process

While I was applying this hair color I noticed that the odor is not strong or pronounced. Perhaps this due to there being more ‘natural’ ingredients? I don’t actually know, but I did appreciate the less obnoxious smell.

Since I got light brown, the actual gel that comes from the can is a light color as well. When I started to apply it I was concerned that I had made a mistake because the mixture of the two parts remained white for several minutes. It wasn’t until I was half way through application that it actually showed as a light brown color.

When I began I hadn’t yet considered that my beard and my hair are different thicknesses, so I just started on my hair. After I had applied, waited ten minutes, then rinsed I could see that I should have done things in the reverse. So I just put more on my beard and let it set for another ten minutes. That did the trick nicely and you can see the before and after results in the photos below.

Results

My hair is more of a dark blonde so I was unsure if this would work for me. Simpler offers several shades of color, the lightest being ‘light brown’. I ordered that color and let it set for a shorter time than recommended just to be safe. For my hair the ten minute set time was perfect, but my beard needed twenty minutes. You’ll have to look really hard to see my grays in my hair because my natural color is so light. In my beard it is quite obvious.

I didn’t apply the color to my entire hair because the gray is only next to my ears, which is the only place I applied. It blended very nicely! My wife couldn’t see where the transition between natural and colored was at all.
