Ashley Jessa Place Sectional Sofa Review
After having owned this couch for over 4 months, I decided it was time for a Jessa Place Sectional Sofa Review.
Jessa Place Sectional Sofa Review
As with any sofa, the most important thing to know has go to be “is it comfortable.” My answer to that question is that the Jessa Place is fantastically comfortable, especially if you also have the matching ottoman. But how do you get that comfort to your home, safely? If you are like me and you live far away from a city of any notable size (meaning there is no shopping around) you’ll be stuck guessing and hoping when it comes to your furniture selection and delivery.
Packaging
The Jessa Place Sectional Sofa came wrapped like it should be – nearly impervious to anything that would cause damage including ‘poking’ and moisture. This thing was packed for the long haul, and it was worth it. All three sections were shipped upright on one pallet each. I found not even the slightest hint of damage to my sofa when it arrived, and it traveled from North Carolina to New Mexico and experienced at least two different shipping companies (maybe even a third). One down side to how well wrapped the three pieces were is that I had a LOT of plastic and cardboard to recycle, and some of the packaging was some sort of fiberglass ‘penetration prevention’ material that I didn’t know what to do with.
Assembly
What assembly? Seriously, the Jessa Place needs almost nothing done to be ready to sit on. All that is required for tools is a screw gun (or a screwdriver and strong muscles) to attach the 12 feet (4 feet per section) and you are done. There are pre-attached brackets to connect the sections together, and these require zero tools. All you do is line up the sections and lift one up about three inches, then lower it down again. Done! It’s that simple. Check out the video above for a demo of how that works. One note is that the sections done fit snugly together as if they had been attached by screws but I have never once noticed or felt a gap when sitting on it.
Size
This is arguable very large sofa. The maximum Jessa Place dimensions are 11′ 7″ x 7′ 6″. The ottoman is 40″ square. See the picture for full dimension and a good example of how it’ll fit into your room.
The large size dose make it great for lots of people. Over holidays I had my family visit and all 8 of us (two boys aged 5, 7) fit comfortably and didn’t have to squeeze one bit. And the large size of the ottoman means literally everyone can have their feet up without fighting over it.
Color and Fabric
The color of this sofa is what they call “pewter”. In my experience pewter isn’t really a color but rather a reaction to the color of things around it. Sometimes it looks brown, other times green, and still other times ash blue. The photos below are in a room with orange tile on the floor, natural pine on the ceiling and daylight on a sunny day coming in the windows. The color of the pictures have been balanced using professional equipment and techniques, so it is as close to ‘neutral’ as possible. Still it doesn’t look simply gray. The short answer to ‘what color is the pewter Jessa Place sofa’ is that it is no color.
Comfort
The Jessa Place sectional sofa is really comfortable. I never really get ‘tired’ from sitting on it. There isn’t a constant struggle to get comfortable but just a general content with sitting on it. The corner is especially comfy, especially with one of the included pillows and the ottoman. Just lean back and watch, read, sleep or chat with friends. The seat cushions are firm, but forgiving. They have a bounce to them rather than squish. The back cushions are nearly opposite, having squish but not really any bounce. They are made of poly-fill type of material and each one has a zipper on the bottom so that you can add or adjust the fill to your personal taste.
The seat cushions stay nicely in place by large velcro strips under each one so you don’t end up pushing the cushion out from under yourself. The back cushions are permanently attached and cannot be removed at all.
Durability & Quality
While this sofa is great, there are just a couple of places where you can tell you are not paying for a high-end piece of furniture. On the back of the sofa, some of the decorative piping, along with some of the places where the fabric is joined, are not perfectly straight. If you are literally OCD this will not work for you, but if you can take a few truly minor imperfections then it is a non issue. I personally am a perfectionist, and I can deal with this just fine.
After having used this couch daily, with three rounds of house guests, for for months I see zero signs of wear and only the slightest sign that the seat cushions are giving in. All seat cushions do eventually become less firm, so this is no surprise. It is not much, though. Just what you might expect of a brand new product getting ‘broken in’, like a pair of shoes might.
When it comes to cleaning and dirt repelling, I cannot say much. We have a rule of nothing on the couch except water. Eating stays in the kitchen. Our cats do love to sit on this sofa, and our Shark Rocket vacuum does a fantastic job of removing the little bit of hair that it holds. It is NOT a hair magnet at all. I am relieved because we have three long hair cats.

The Jessa Place Sectional Sofa is a great option for anyone with a lot of seating need, but not a lot of budget. It is a quality piece of furniture that should last quite a while with good treatment. I expect this furniture to last me at least a decade.
